1 Based on existing research and sitting expertise we made the observation that people are generally dissatisfied with their current office chairs.

2 Based on this observation, we asked the question: Can we design the world’s best office chair?

3 We formed three hypotheses that the new office chair would reduce spinal disc pressure, improve posture, and be the most comfortable, lowest pressure seat cushion based on the unique design.

4 To test our hypotheses, we used 3D human modeling as well as ISO standardized bench testing to measure and compare spinal disc pressure as well as seat pressure, contact area, and shear.

5 We analyzed the results of the experiments and found that the Anthros chair was indeed more comfortable and provided better support than the other chairs. This supported our hypotheses and allowed us to confidently make the claims about the chair.
