Thankful for the VeeFriends community and debunking workplace myths
Firstly, I want to express my deepest gratitude and love for the VeeCon community. You guys were the true stars of the show! The energy, camaraderie, and inclusiveness that you brought to our booth were mind-blowing. Connecting with each and every one of you was an absolute delight as we were inspired to conquer our fears and keep pushing boundaries to create more innovative solutions like Anthros.
Inspiring future leaders of the world
Among the many phenomenal speakers, one standout was the multi-faceted Jessica Alba. During her captivating speech at VeeCon, Jessica Alba shared her personal journey of building The Honest Company from the ground up, despite facing numerous challenges. What struck me most about Jessica Alba's presentation was her steadfast determination to challenge the status quo. She spoke passionately about the vast need for more diverse and inclusive representation within various industries, emphasizing the power of disrupting traditional norms.
As a fellow disruptor, one understands the importance of creating a business that not only revolutionizes a marketplace but also serves the greater good. Jessica Alba's words reinforce the notion that aligning business goals with personal values is essential for long-term success and fulfillment. By staying true to our values, Anthros can continue to provide innovative solutions to combat the aches and pain of sitting while simultaneously making a meaningful difference in the lives of disabled individuals around the world through the Anthros Foundation.
Amazing interactions
We were thrilled to witness firsthand the overwhelmingly positive response to the Anthros chair. As attendees approached our booth, their curiosity piqued by its unique design, we invited them to take a seat and experience the physical gift of GiftGoat #10.
One interaction that touched us deeply was with a VeeFriend who had been on a relentless quest for an office chair that could alleviate his chronic back pain. He shared his frustration of spending years and countless dollars searching for the perfect chair, only to be left disappointed. After spending an entire weekend at VeeCon in excruciating discomfort, he skeptically decided to give the Anthros chair a try.
To his astonishment, within just a few minutes of sitting in the Anthros chair, his pain began to dissipate. It was a transformative moment, as his face lit up with relief and disbelief.
Although the reactions we received were truly remarkable, we also learned that we have some work to do to dispel some workplace myths that continue to exist in the world.
Debunking the myth of feet flat on the floor:
When people were testing out the Anthros chair compared to industry-leading office chairs, we would ask “Now, get into your typing posture”. Even when they were in the best posture from the Anthros chair, people would raise both of their arms up to type into a zombie-like pose.
Why is this?
People are raising their arms up to the desk and most likely being told that their feet must be flat on the floor while sitting. Well, let me tell you, my friends, that's nothing but a myth! The standard desk height is 30 inches so keeping your feet flat on the floor will cause you to have to raise your arms, leading to tension in your neck and shoulders during the working day. At Anthros, we say go high and add a footrest to accommodate your desk height or lower your desk as much as you can. Don’t let this myth distract you with upper body pain and soreness while you conquer your workday.
Debunking the myth of the lumbar support
Another workplace myth we want to debunk is the notion that lumbar support is all you need. While lumbar support does have its benefits, what your body truly craves is proper pelvis support. By aligning your pelvis correctly, you can maintain a neutral spine position, which is crucial for optimal posture and reduced strain on your lower back. Every other chair at VeeCon had lumbar support and Anthros was chosen 99 out of 100 chair trials so that pelvis support must be doing something! So, let's bid farewell to the lumbar support myth and give our back the love and support it deserves!
